In loving memory of a much loved, Husband, Father and Grandfather, Roger Leonard Higgins who sadly passed away on 15th June 2021, aged 79 years.

Born in Ilford, Roger moved to Leigh-on-Sea whilst still a baby. Here, he spent his childhood and teenage years. He attended Belfairs High School for Boys, where he became Head Boy and excelled in sport, most notably cricket, football and athletics; he was the Essex County Sprint Champion for the 100 yard sprint.

At the age of 15, he met the love of his life, Carole Anderson, with whom he went on to have a relationship that spanned six decades including 57 years of marriage, three daughters, Sally, Penny and Vicky and seven grandchildren, Connor, Ellie-Mae, Gabriella, Alizée, Isabella, Daisy and Xavier.

Upon leaving school, Roger toyed with teaching and fishing before he finally settled on a thirty + year career with Ford Motor Company in Human Resources.

Roger remained a keen sportsman throughout his life, taking up golf later on and becoming a member and a director at Thorpe Hall Golf Club. He enjoyed travelling, good food and wine, and a good old fashioned knees-up with family and friends. He was the life and soul of any social gathering, singing, dancing and generally making merry.

Roger was a family man through and through. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, but particularly his wife, daughters and grandchildren.

You were in my life from the age of 4 and were part of the family unit I never had.
I spent most of my childhood at your house and was always welcomed into the home.
I have many memories with you in them but the one that makes me laugh and smile is when you went down the bunkers hill in a Asda trolley in the snow!!!
You may be further away but you will live forever in my heart and mind , love you xxxxx travel safe, see you when I get there x
