Funeral Director
Maureen Marjorie de Bourbon passed away peacefully on Monday 31st May 2021 at St. Christopher’s Hospice. She was born on the 19th April 1951 in sunny Bulawayo (Zimbabwe) to Allen and Olive Powell. After leaving Roosevelt High School and briefly working for one of Zimbabwe’s finest breweries, Maureen forged a career in the Steel industry – an industry she would dedicate almost all of her working life to both, in Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom.
Maureen enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family and was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and friend often selflessly putting the needs of others above her own.
She is survived by her sons Chris and Raymond; daughters-in-law Bridgette and Ashley; grandchildren Bronwyn, Alexander, Andrew and Daniella; sister Gwen; brothers Lionel and Dennis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service for Maureen will be held for family, friends and those whose lives she touched at Beckenham Crematorium on Tuesday 29th June 2021 from 10:15 am. Please "Wear colours and not Black".
Afterwards, guests are invited to join the family at SE-Twenty Restaurant for Maureen's Wake to remember and celebrate her wonderful life. Address 85-89 Elmers End Road, Beckenham, BR3 4SY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Christopher's Hospice.
