Martin, you were an absolute angel to me when I first started temping at Provincial House. You always had a smile for me and would help me out every time without fail. We had some lovely chats when I then went over to the Civic Offices on yet another temping job and you were a huge support when I got elected to the Council in 2017. I miss our laughs and the way you always had me cracking up even when I was in the worst of moods.

You were truly one of a kind and you will be forever missed and loved by us all.

You made my day every time we had a chat and that was most days. You always had time for everyone and lightened the mood as soon as walked into a room. I will always smile whenever I think of you. Thank you Martin, you will be sorely missed. Julia A

Martin was not only a neighbour who lived accross the road from me and my family. But also I knew as I worked for Highways on the Council and would see him where he worked at The Civic the odd occasion. He was just a lovely guy, who always would help and always had a smile on his face. So saddened to hear of his loss, and will be not only thinking of him today, but also his family.

I was so sad to read of your passing, I wasn't aware that you'd been suffering and the news came as a shock.
I left the Civic 3 years ago, so it's been a long while since I would have last seen you. I have so many memories of you coming to my rescue whilst trying to move heavy boxes and equipment that was part of my day to day work. You made my life so much easier.
I still remember the chats and laughs we had about our teenagers and the mischief they'd get up to!
You always had a smile and kind word.
Thanks for your friendship during my time at Civic and Provincial House.

My heart is with your family. Sending love, light and strength x

What a privilege to have met and known you. A keen observer of people and life always generous and funny in your comments and observations ! My overriding memory of you is laughing with you over something and everything. We compared treatment regimes and side affects laughing at the awful bits and trying to see the positives. I am extremely sad that your journey has come to an end and will miss our conversations hugely. My heart goes out to your family.

Brother / Co Pilot you have left us but will forever be with us , for you have touched everyone that who was lucky enough to have known and work with you . Legend is so often used , but no one has ever deserved it more than you Brother , I for one am a much better person , you have helped me in so many ways , you always put others before yourself , always , when people who knew or worked with you a smile comes on their face when they think of you . One memory ( and there are so many ) but one always shines through , was when Jo tucked you up . We went to Cats Protection Bridgend and you first saw Chemo and said " Will you do a form for me ? ....you daft sod this is your form ...Jo has tucked you up " . Jo has lost her Husband , and Kirsty has lost her Dad ....But all of us have lost The Legend Maritn Garrett . Good Night Brother love you Millions xxxx

Martin, you are without a doubt one of kind and I loved every minute working with you. You were always first to help me and the boys with whatever we needed.

I remember my mother in laws wedding at the Civic and you helping myself and brother in law fit a network cable as a belt as he forgot his, as well as sorting out his buttonhole...and of course you coming out to spoons later to celebrate.

You will be missed mate but never forgotten.

Mother Teressa said once "I am not sure exactly what heaven will be like, but I know that when we die and it comes time for God to judge us, he will not ask, 'How many good things have you done in your life?' rather he will ask, 'How much love did you put into what you did?' Martin put so much love into what he did and he will be missed so much. May the Lord Bless You and Keep You. Martin

In memory of a dear brother

Today is full of memories
Of a dear brother laid to rest
And every single one of them
Is filled with happiness

For you were someone special
Always such a joy to know
And there was so much pain
When it was time to let you go

That’s why this special message
Is sent to heaven above
For the angels to take care of you
And give you all my love. xx

Big sis Lynn

Martin was someone who would brighten even the darkest day. Just passing the time of day, hearing his observations on life in the Civic or one of the many times he stepped in to make sure things ran smoothly for others, Martin was always a joy. He had an amazing way of difusing situations and his kindness and sense of humour shone through everything he did. My thoughts are with the family of this irreplaceable and special man.

Memories. Gone is the Martin that we all loved so dear the leaves may fall and the sun will set but those of us who loved him will never forget time may close our book of grief but all our memories will turn back every leaf what Martin suffered i'm sure he told but few but I know that he didn't deserve what he went through tired and weary he made no fuss but I'm sure he tried so hard to stay with us so we can all thank Martin for the years that we all shared for the love that he gave and the way that he cared he was always so happy always so kind but oh what beautiful memories he has left us behind the many things that he did for us in his own sweet kind and loving way so we can all say forgive us Martin for crying as our hearts have broken in too as we did not only loose you as a friend we've lost our best friend two you can't come back we know that to be true but one day Martin we will come to you © R.
