As well as attending the same church, Mike lived quite close to us and was always kind and courteous whenever we met - with a keen interest in things. Upon losing his wife so suddenly and tragically, it was touching that he used to go across to the spot where she lost her life “to have a little word with her”. Fond memories of this lovely man.

Mike with the BBC voice. I always thought you should have been a cricket commentator along with Richie Benaud and Henry Blofeld. RIP old friend. It has been such a blessing knowing you.

Today I said goodbye to the most wonderful man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, my Grandpa.

He was my biggest supporter and I his biggest fan.
A true gentleman who was always there for me, from an early age I remember his patience while I sat on his knee and combed his hair over and over again, his endurance of watching the same film with me every weekend and his constant presence when ever I needed him.

The many times he happily collected me or didn’t mind driving me home just so we could listen to Fairground attractions it’s got to be perfect and sing along.

His telephone number is forever etched in my memory from the numerous times I could just call for a chat.

I’ve inherited his humour, his love for photography and appreciation for family and friends. I will forever treasure the most amazing memories he created for me and the absolute joy he filled my life with.

The past year was cruel and I didn’t get to visit as often as I would of had times been normal, we did manage a few FaceTime calls which always perplexed him but offered us both the closeness that we have always shared. I am grateful for the visit just before he left and for the laughing and the final hugs that were still so familiar and warm.

Sleep tight Grandpa, you are so loved and will always hold a special place in my heart. In his words “I love you me darlin, very much” 💙

Mike a true gentleman . We met on a bus going into Nottingham.
We ended up in John Lewis drinking coffee and enjoying cake and we became No9 bus buddies for many years .
You shared so many life stories with me and also spoke of your wonderful Katie with so much love and affection.
You then told me you were moving into Giles Court such wonderful news as I’d been working there for over 10 years . And I became your house keeper .
We shared chocolate cake and coffee memories I will cherish.
Reunited with your lovely Katie.
With much love Michele xx

Even though it was only for a short period, it was wonderful to get to know Mike on Mondays at Morrisons, to enjoy his smile and company and get to learn a little bit of West Bridgford history. A real gentle man.

My dad is Mike's cousin and when they were little they got up to all sorts of trouble together! As children we loved Mike and Kates visits because they were always laughing and cheerful and funny . I send condolences to the family. Alison Bowler. ❤

Mike loved company and looked forward to Monday morning house-group, where his humour came through in the tales he told in our discussions. To Mike sticky buns and coffee were also integral to the meeting. We have so many memories of Mike and he is greatly missed, but will always be remembered by us and the group. Our thoughts and prayers for the family are that God will sustain them in the days ahead and that their memories of Mike will bring them comfort. We thank God that we were able to spend good and happy times with him, Joyce & John

Remembering Mike with fond memories. Always smartly dressed, a proper gentleman and when he smiled his whole face lit up and his eyes twinkled. He and Kate would come over for the day. We would go out for lunch, before spending the afternoon chatting and introducing us to the game of Canasta.

Thinking of Mike brings a smile to our faces, he was one of life’s characters. He always had a glint in his eye, particularly when teasing Tim, but the pride that he felt for Tim, Sally and the family was obvious. We’re sad to think that there will be no more stories and chats in the Holder’s garden with Mike holding court - fond memories!

As friends of Tim and Sally for the last 33 years we met Mike and Katie many times at Henry Road. They were so proud of their family and always interested in ours. Such vital, energetic and loving people. Mike had huge presence and charisma and wit. So glad to have laughed with him. Al, Anna & family.

We used to see Uncle Mike quite often when he visited my dad, David Bowler. He was always cheerful, teasing us and making jokes. It was lovely to hear him reminiscing with my dad about the fun they used to have together as children when they would meet on Bowler family holidays and other occasions. Love to all the family, Margaret
