FUNERAL UPDATES
As of this week the church, crematorium and wake all have different legal capacities but unfortunately all of them are still massively reduced. If you have been invited into either the church or the crematorium or both, you would have been notified personally. Thankfully quite a few more people could join us to say their final goodbyes but still not nearly enough of you. We are sorry to say that the vicar will have a guest list and no one else will be permitted entry :-(
ALL FUNERAL GUESTS are required to take a lateral flow covid test on the morning of the funeral before arriving and are being asked not to mix or car share with anyone else who has not been tested before attending the funeral.
MEETING AT OUR HOUSE - Anyone is welcome to come along to pay their respects at our house between 9.30am -10.30am, please privately message me for my address if you'd like to come along. Please maintain your distance though, especially from funeral guests who would have tested.
A MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of you that donated to little George, he and his family are overwhelmed and so grateful.
REMEMBER to use the links below the heading LIVE STREAMING to watch the funeral from home. There are two different logins.... one for the church via zoom and one for the crematorium via Orbitus.
FUNERAL DETAILS
James's funeral will be held on 20th May 2021.
The funeral will leave from our house in Dartford at around 10.45am, James will be arriving by 10am.
The church service is 11am at Christ Church in Dartford.
Another service will be held at Blue Bell Hill Crematorium in Medway, Chatham at 1pm in East Chapel.
FUNERAL GUESTS
The covid restrictions and rule of 30 guests and social distancing have made arranging this funeral very complicated especially since the rules are due to change 3 days before the funeral. It is proving very difficult to get a clear indication from the venues on change of numbers because the government guidance has not been published yet. However the venues will still be bound by strict social distancing rules and have to reduce capacity tremendously. Therefore as you can imagine there are a huge amount of people that thought a lot of James that wont be able to come to his funeral, please know that this makes us very sad indeed.
We have notified the 30 main funeral guests already and they know who they are. However I will be contacting a few more people next week at short notice IF more spaces to become available once the government guidance becomes clearer to the venues.
COVID SAFETY
People are welcome to come to pay their respects outside our house in the morning from 9.30am (message me if you plan to come and I will give you my address). However please remember that lots and lots of people have lost their lives to covid and we urge everybody to abide by the social distancing rules and wear masks outside to keep eachother safe. Unfortunately we will be unable to let people use our toilet or provide refreshments due to the covid situation.
As you all know as a family we have been mostly insolating for the past 14 months so we will be testing and insisting that ALL guests coming to the funeral; into the church or crematorium take a lateral flow test on the morning of the funeral too. We are also asking guests that once they have tested that they do not go near other people on the street or share cars with them on the day. This is to ensure that we can keep the funeral completely covid free to keep everybody safe. I hope you understand how important this is. If you would rather not take a covid test then please be honest with us and choose to stay at home to watch the live stream of the funeral service instead.
LIVE STREAMING
If you can't be with us on the day due to numbers or work commitments then please feel free to watch the funeral online.
CREMATORIUM SERVICE
The crematorium service live streamed between 1pm-2pm. (play back will be available from 3 days after the funeral too)

FLOWERS
Many people have kindly messaged about sending flowers or donating.....this is so thoughtful.
As a family we feel we will have enough flowers on the day from those attending the services. Therefore we have decided to create a JustGiving page for a little boy who touched James’ heart (see below). However if you would rather do flowers you are still obviously welcome to and if you want to use the same florist as us please feel free, her contact details are below and we are going with a white and blue theme:

DONATIONS
If you would rather donate to a good cause instead of sending flowers. Your donation will go to a little boy called George who has NF1, a lifelong condition. George is currently undergoing chemotherapy to help save his sight. George captured James's heart........and James nicknamed him superhero Agent 44!!
Please copy this link into you search bar to
to read George's story and to donate on the JustGiving page we have set up for him.

WAKE
The main 30 funeral guests will be invited back to Sue and Dave's house (James's parents) for food and refreshments. However legally the wake has to be held outdoors so bare this in mind and bring along a coat as it will go ahead come rain or shine.
JAMES' STORY
In loving memory of James Richard Morrissey who sadly passed away on 17th April 2021 aged 39, at home surrounded by loved ones after a brave battle with bowel cancer.
James will be remembered by most of you for his unique social character and his ability to find laughter in every situation. There was never a dull moment when you was around James, he was bursting with energy, conversation and so full of life. James always made his family and friends smile with his charismatic ways, humour and silly pranks. He also surprised us all on many occasions with his intelligence (or useless knowledge) and good friendly advice. James could not go anywhere without making a new friend or having a chat to someone he knew, he really was the most sociable person we knew. That is why he touched so many peoples' lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
James was above all such a wonderful family man. He loved his family more than anything and absolutely adored his two young children, Millie and Harry. James was an amazing, fun, loving daddy from day 1, it came naturally to him and he was always eager to be involved in every aspect of his children's lives because he thoroughly enjoyed being around them. Millie and Harry brought James unspeakable happiness for the short time he had with them, he was immensely proud to be their daddy. He worked really hard at Wholefoods for over 15 years to provide a nice life for his family. He was also a fantastic uncle and Godfather to his two beautiful nieces and an uncle figure to others in his extended family. He was a dedicated and thoughtful husband, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law and grandson. He enjoyed spending time with his close family especially when making special memories at Ashcroft Holiday Park. He always did his best to protect his family even if it meant putting on a brave face during his tough cancer battle. He was also a really good mate to all of his friends and would help anyone in need.
As a family we are devastated that James was robbed of his life and future and the chance to continue being a daddy. We will never come to terms with the fact that he truly did not deserve to have his life so cruelly ended at such a young age. We had so many plans and dreams for our future, but without him the world is a lonely place and our lives will be forever shattered. We do have our precious memories of James, as I am sure you all do and he will be remembered in our hearts forever and ever.
Remember no matter what ...... James chose to live!!! 😢💔
