In loving memory of Jean Matthews who sadly passed away on 31st March 2021
So many fond memories of my time at Redbridge swimming club. My mum Mary passed away exactly 1 month after Jean and I know how much mum held her in such high regard. All my children are swimmers because of the amazing influence it had on my life, all thanks to Jean, Gordon and the Matthews family. Thank You, rest in peace. David Lucy.

I’ll forever raise my glass of Pinot to the best nana there was. Thank you for 22 years of love, laughter and endless wisdom. I am so grateful for the time we spent together. Thank you for teaching me to always see the best in people and enjoy the small moments that make life wonderful. You feature so heavily in all my small moments - thanks for making my life so wonderful. I hope I made you half as proud as you made me. I promise to keep working hard for you my lovely nana. Jean took time to guide and support so many young people during her many years of swimming coaching. Many successes were achieved and many challenges were over come however simply put, it all just comes down to time. She always had time.
For you. For me. Time for everyone. Alongside that surgical like wit and general effervescence for life, I think that will be the thing that people will remember most.
As her nephew, I'll just remember Jean as my Aunty who I loved very much and who I will miss greatly.
Rest in Peace.
