In loving memory of Peter ‘Papa’ Sweeney who sadly passed away on 27th March 2021. Papa was born in Springburn, Glasgow in December 1933, but the family moved to the Gorbals when he was a baby and thereafter he was always proud to be a Gorbals ‘bhoy’. Married to Barbara in December 1956 their love never diminished during 65 years of marriage. Children Linda and Peter, grandchildren Jennifer, Richard and Natalie and great grandchildren Oliver and Olivia followed during those 65 years. Sadly, Linda got her Angel’s wings in January 2008 and she will be waiting for her beloved Dad to join her in heaven. He will be missed. Rest in peace Papa 🙏💚😇

Launch of the 40th anniversary book in October 1997, recalling that great day ‘Oh Hampden in the sun...Celtic 7 Rangers 1’. It was also the day Linda was born - 19/10/57 and Papa had shared his happy memories of that great day with the book author.

We always enjoyed seeing Uncle Peter and Auntie Babs whenever we were in Glasgow. I remember a lot of laughs with them. Was lucky enough to see Uncle Peter one more time with my children 3 years ago. He will be missed. Rest In Peace Uncle Peter. We love youxxxx Sarah,Darcy, Jordan &Jackie

  • Thank you Sarah, and to your family too. Happy memories indeed. Something to cherish. Just like my memories of Canada in 1980....when you were just a ‘wee lassie’. Every time I have a pizza or a fried chicken wing I remember where I first tasted such delights - Red Deer and Banff. I tell my grandson, who loves both pizza and fried chicken, that I was 19 when I first tasted them. And in Canada too. All he has to do is go down to the end of his street with Mummy to get his!!! Love to all the family. Young Peter xx
