In loving memory of Karen Marie Thompson who sadly passed away on 24th March 2021
Trying to put in to words what We'll miss about mum is impossible, she was such an incredible person that everyone has so much about her to miss.
She thought nothing of giving up her time to help others, checking in on her elderly neighbours even when she was sick herself, her only problem being that she couldn't help them more!
She was incredibly generous, going through her belongings and paperwork (which by the way was kept in better order than most libraries) she thought constantly about the future of her children and grandchildren, she wanted everything for us and worked tirelessly to make sure we would be looked after and happy and we could not be more proud or grateful.
Her work ethic taught us so much and made us not only the people we are today but gave us such admiration, she never stopped! Never complained and was always willing to do more if it meant helping someone else out. This drove her to want bigger things for herself too, she was so determined to take a trip with her friend Helen to climb matchu pitchu in Peru, she bought all the books to read, climbing equipment and even installed a mini gym in the garage so that she could fully prepare to beat even the locals up there!! Sadly she never got the chance to go as she had become too ill and we know she was absolutely devastated that her and Helen never got to have that time together.
For us her retirement could not come too soon, we wanted to see her and Steve finally buy the campervan and head off into the sun with a wine in one hand and most likely a wine in the other too! We are sure she would have kept Steve busy with lists of jobs and demands even when there was nothing to do but relax, and he would have loved every minute of it, Steve and mum found each other too late in life but we can only be thankful that they did, they had so many good memories and so much love for one another.
She was a brilliant nanna to Louis and Charlie, she would do anything to make them happy, cinema trips where she cried watching wreck it Ralph, building tents on the bed so they could pretend to be camping without getting cold and dinners at Frankie and Benny's because the boys loved to go out for a "posh dinner". She was wonderfully patient and caring and loved Louis and Charlie so much, a love which was returned by them and they miss her terribly.
We are glad she will lay to rest in these beautiful surroundings, she loved gardening and working on her tan so I like to think she'll be happy here in the flowers and sun.
We will think of her every day and miss her always, she was taken far too soon when she still had so much to give.
We love you mum.
