In loving memory of Ernest Alfred Hastings who sadly passed away on 24th February 2021.

Born in Bromley on 28th December 1925, Ernie was the second child of Maud and Ernest Hastings. He had an older sister Joan and a younger brother Roy.

Ernie served in the Royal Navy on the Destroyer HMS Carron during the second world war. He kept in touch with former shipmates with annual reunions in Torquay. Ernie was involved for many years with the restoration of HMS Cavalier at Chatham Dockyard, the sister ship of HMS Carron.

In 1950 he married his sweetheart Laura Violet Miell at St. Mark's Church, Biggin Hill, Kent. In their younger days they enjoyed days out on their motorbike with friends and many holidays abroad.

During his life Ernie worked as a baker, milkman and a postman, not one to be afraid of early mornings!

Sleep peacefully dear Uncle Ernie.
Fond childhood memories of you and Auntie Laura.
Always full of fun and making us laugh.
Never forgotten.

To my dear godfather. You meant so much to me as a child, and l loved our chats in later years. I shall miss that twinkly eye and pithy comment on life. Rest well Ernie. Love from Andy x
