As a loyal customer and friend of 30 years I will very much miss my regular meetings with David at which he was always immaculately dressed and put me to shame. We would spend most of our time putting the world to rights instead of going through the actual agenda.

  • Hi Kim You’re right, David was such a lovely chap. We have worked together on several Castle Point & Rochford projects over the past 20 odd years. It’s so sad that we won’t be able to continue working together. We had a great time at Abbs Cross - but he was always the most focused student 😂 xx

David. We had some wonderful golf trips to Spain and in the UK. You will not be forgotten, neither will your cheerfulness and 'can do' attitude. Wendy - our thoughts are with yourself, Nick and the family. Chris and Margaret Rastin

Much love to Wendy and the family at this most difficult time. Not surprisingly there have been so many fine tributes paid to David. He was a real strength within the family and a major achiever who was widely respected by everyone in both his business and personal life. Moreover he was much loved by everyone with whom he had contact. He will be sadly missed. R.I.P. David. John and Jean

Dear David,

You made every working day seem like fun. Some of your jokes were terrible but I couldn’t help laughing with you anyway.

I loved how your default setting was always positive. I’d give you good news and bad news and you’d ignore the bad and light up at the good. I liked nothing more than giving you good news by the way.

You loved nothing more than seeing people around you do well and making you proud was all the motivation those around you needed. We gave you our absolute and unwavering loyalty because that’s how you made us feel. Top Man.

Your passing has left an enormous and permanent void and I can’t get my head around it still. But you would say “just get on with it mate” so that is what we will do.

Bless you David.

It’s hard to explain the loss of David because I was fundamentally just his colleague but I just loved working with him, laughing with him, learning from him, being around him and his innate sense of goodness, humour and fun. I feel the loss very keenly so I can only begin to imagine how those closest to him must feel. If the world were lucky enough they would all be blessed to have had a David Marchant in their life.
