In loving memory of Cyril Archibald Farr who sadly passed away on 2nd July 2015.
Cyril was born in Ringstead on the 24th of August 1923 to John & Polly Farr at Pearson’s Yard, later moving to the new council house's up Denford Rd. He had 4 siblings William, Liz, Glad, Ivy he was the second youngest.
He attended Ringstead School.
He first worked as a Cowman on Stuart Bates farm where he met his wife to be Janet Bates.
He was drafted into the war effort in 1941 aged 18 and was stationed at Warminster in the artillery regiment. After being demobbed he returned to his family home and his romance with Janet. Janet’s father Stuart was not in favour of there relationship to start (we’ll a lad from a council house dating a farmers daughter unheard of) but they stayed true to there love for each other.
They married on 16th of May 1953 and lived up Denford Rd and had there first child Patrick, they moved to back lane after a short stay at the farm having two further sons Adrian & Kevin.
Sadly In 1971 Patrick was tragically killed in a road accident, life was tough for them both at this time but they got through it.
Cyril had various jobs during his life after he married Janet and Stuart down sized the farm, he worked on the land picking fruit and veg and general farm labouring, then moved onto being and builders labourer which he did most of his life, then after the retirement of the builder he worked as a boiler man.
He retired and joined the family milk business working along side Janet for a number of years until ill health forced him to stop.
He enjoyed carpentry and upholstery in his younger days and studied both at night class at Raunds Manor.
He and Janet were happily married for 62yrs
