In loving memory of Betty Freed who sadly passed away on 1st March 2021, St David’s day. A devoted wife to the late David. A loving mother to Beverley, Dawn, Elizabeth and the late Alison, a beloved mother-in-law and a treasured Grandma and Great Grandma.
Betty was inspirational and a truly delightful lady. Her sense of fun and family bonded us together. Following the devastating loss of David in 1999 she focussed on family and volunteer charity work. In 2018/19 at age 85 and with very poor mobility she surprised us all with her decision to dye her hair pink to raise money for Cancer Research UK, a disease that had taken her father, brother and husband and then devastatingly her daughter Alison in 2020. Her pink hair raised a staggering £1000 for the charity and even earned her the coveted Golden Wagon Wheel at Berwick Kalers final panto run of which she was overjoyed and very proud.
Betty will be very sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Donations large or small to her chosen charity would be very gratefully received.
