Trevor James Ince, our beloved father and grandad, who was sadly taken from this world too soon on 18th February 2021.

Stephanie and Daniel kindly request that along with messages of condolences, that you please where possible leave some memories of your time spent with Trevor.
Trevor was a gentle giant and where his family was concerned, they were his world. He adored his grandchildren and kept every memento, gift, card or piece of art that was given to him. if you looked around his house you could see they were his everything.

Our memories of Dad

Steph - I love the memories I have of spending time at the coast. Taking a stroll along the seafront whilst the kids were running wild on the beach, getting to the Lookout Cafe and getting a cuppa to just sit and watch them play. We would just sit there and pass the time. Not needing to talk if we didn't want too but knowing what each other were thinking, if we saw something happen or something funny happened with the kids in the sand. Dad loved to watch the lifeboats going out into the water too. We would also make sure that we picked up a paper on the way back to the caravan so that he could have some time reading and do the crosswords too.

Daniel - One of my memories that sticks out for me is whilst I was learning to drive. We were driving along near East Bridgeford, combining my learning to drive with my need to get to work at the Unicorn Hotel in Gunthorpe. after turning onto Gunthorpe Bridge, I may not have straightened up the steering wheel quick enough. the emitting screech from my dad was ear piercing, also frightening Steph who was sitting in the back seat. needless to say I didn't do that again.

Michael - One thing that I loved about Trevor was being able to have our own time at gigs and shows. This was our boy's nights out time. Half time interval was always cappuccino time. We managed to see some amazing acts, including Queen with Adam Lambert, Madness, going to see the mystery week plays at the Theatre Royal. We've seen many comedians and during Henning Wehn we got a free pen, Trevor was not letting us turn that down. We all love a free pen! But the one concert that sticks in my mind is Dire Straits, the whole evening was just amazing and something that I will never forget.

Marcus, Rebecca & Triston - When we were in the Mirage arcade, Grandad got back on his scooter after he had had his cup of tea, his hoodie pocket got stuck on the lever the makes the scooter go forward. Grandad liked his scooter to zoom along quickly, which meant that Grandad only had one leg on the scooter and the other leg off as it started to race towards a pool table. We thought this was very funny, however Grandad did not.

Josh & Sophie - We didn't get to see grandad as often as we wanted as we live quite far away, but we remember the fun times we all got to spend together at family BBQ's and playing on the bouncy castle.

Tree was my big brother, when we were growing up we used to play together in the garden especially cricket which Trev loved. I vividly remember once we were playing , just the two of us, and as Trev bowled to me, I hooked it beautifully, straight through the kitchen window... Other fond memories are of us going to watch Notts in the one day games and invariably sharing a pint waiting for the rain to stop or anioher time watching Forest together. Shocked and sad.....

So sad to hear about my nephew’s passing. My fondest memories of Trevor are when he was very young, as the most lovable little boy that you can imagine. He was robust in his play, yet he combined that with such tender-heartedness and such a sweet disposition. We were always cheered by his smiles and ready affection. I picture him clearly like that as I write and it tugs the heartstrings. Much missed.

  • A beautiful piece David and I agree with it all. Trevor was such a happy, kind little lad, very loving. I was so proud to be his aunty from the young age of 6. I'll always remember him, so very sad.
