It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colin David Best, on Friday, February 19th at the Priscilla Bacon Lodge in Norwich, at the age of 60. He was comfortable, not in any pain, and passed away in his sleep after a short and intense battle with pancreatic cancer.

He had such positive connections with the people he met, worked with, and cared for and would have given anything and everything to anyone. He will leave a big hole in many people's lives we have no doubt.

He was a loving husband to Carol, dad to Jason and Sarah, and brother to Richard.

Colin's private funeral will take place at Waveney Memorial Park & Crematorium on Thursday, March 11th.

No flowers please, but donations, if desired, in Colin’s memory are to be shared between Dementia UK or Cancer Research UK.

Thank you.

We will miss you more than words can express dad and you have been taken from us far too soon, with so much more give and experience in your lifetime.

On what would have been your birthday, we are thinking of you even more... happy birthday! We will be raising a glass of Rioja and watching Bohemian Rhapsody tonight, wishing you was with us to celebrate your special day.

All my love, Jason xxx

The team at Nightingale are extremely saddened by the loss of Colin. He was such a dedicated Carer, key team member, loved by Clients and was simply one who exemplified what it is to be 'a Carer'. Chris, Rachael, the Team and I would like to name our 'Outstanding' Kind Hearts Carer award after Colin, we will name these awards in the next few months. I remember Colin cooking all our Service Users a Christmas Dinner at the Brooke village hall in December 2019, he arranged all the ingredients, prepared the food at home and delivered some excellent 'lunches' making it a great day for everyone involved. Many of our Clients did not have any loved ones to have dinner with and this 'made' their Christmas. It is just an example of how selfless, kind, thoughtful and dedicated Colin was to those he supported, as well as being respected by his Peers.

Colin, we thank you, we will miss, rest in peace.

Colin you were a beautiful human with the biggest heart. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with you. Thank you for your support and words of advice even if at times I was stubborn and didn't always listen. Christmas meals won't be the same without you in the kitchen cooking up a storm for all of our clients but Nightingales will hold your memory tight and make sure all your care and efforts will never be forgotten.
