I have just received a phone call from Jon in England telling me that my dearest friend of almost sixty four years Althea has passed away. There are no words for me to express how very sad I am at hearing this news. Althea always welcomed my late husband Barry and me along with our two children to her home in England and we were all thrilled when she came to visit many years ago with Jon and Richard.
We shared one another's secrets and loved to talk often on the phone, we were like family.
I had talked with her what must have been a short time ago and we were able to laugh a little even though she wasn't feeling too well.
I remember the first time we first met in Sandiacre, and how Ken and Althea invited me to their home never knowing our friendship then would last a life time, I was a teenager in those days.
I thought of Althea as a sister as we were very close. May she rest in peace.
