In loving memory of Linda Mary Steward (nee Sadler) who sadly passed away on 8th February 2021, aged 69 years.

Born in July, 1951, as the youngest of four children, Linda attended Westbourne Secondary Modern in Ipswich. She became a shorthand typist after leaving school aged 15.

She met John, in 1969 at Cliff Quay Power Station in Ipswich where they both worked. They married in 1973, had two children - Paul (born June 1978) and Michael (Born October 1980) - and would go on to spend 47-and-a-half extremely happy years together.

Linda was a keen Ipswich Town fan, even before she met John, going regularly with her aunt Maudy to see the Blues in the Bill McGarry era.

Running was a passion of Linda's and she and John were both heavily involved in the Stowmarket Striders Running Club. She completed the London Marathon in 1990 and took part in many road races across the county during the years.

Linda worked at the ICI Paints factory in Stowmarket, and on the tills at Tesco in the town. She latterly became a full-time nanny to friend Kirsty's two children - Leah and Jacob.

She was a devoted nanny to four grandchildren - Alice, Thomas, Elizabeth and Heather - and loved spending time with family and friends.

Linda was diagnosed with a brain tumour in June 2020 and died on Monday, February 8 at St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

We called her our lovely lady Linda. She was the best neighbour and a good friend. Linda was always the same, the life and soul and lit up our road with her cheery personality. We will miss her so very much. Taken far too soon by an awful disease, so very sad. Our hearts go out to John and all the family xxx

Our dear Auntie Linda brought love and laughter to all she met. We have so many wonderful memories to treasure. I will always remember as a kid being driven in Auntie Linda's VW Beetle. The car was loud, Linda's laughter was loud, it was fantastic.

With lots of Love

Andrew, Alison, George and Emma.

Whenever I think of Auntie Linda it always brings a smile to my face as she was so happy and always laughing. She would even put a smiley face on her envelopes so you knew the card was from her before you opened it.

Lots of love Ali xxx

My dearest Auntie Linda, you emitted such light and warmth to everyone you met, in a naturally kind and genuine manner. I was lucky enough to see a lot of you in my childhood; the trips to outdoor swimming pools in your bright orange Beetle, and kite flying in the park are particularly fond memories.

Special thanks for the equally nurturing effect you had on my two Sons in their formative years too.

The laughs were constant, the story telling was indeed, a masterclass in communication, and Christmases were magical with you in them.

My cousin Natalie summed you up so well at a family gathering once: “I want an Auntie Linda in my pocket all the time; a rainbow of colourful love and laughter”.

I agree. You will live forever in my heart and soul, to which I will always think of you with a warm, yet now tearful smile. I Love you very much Auntie Linda, I hope that you knew this.

Your Nephew and Godson,

Robert.

Auntie Linda is responsible for some of my happiest childhood memories. As a child, I was always fascinated and engrossed whenever I’d hear Auntie talk. Her infectious joy and effervescent personality made her the best story teller I know. It didn’t matter what she was saying, she would somehow make it interesting with the way she said it.

One of my earliest childhood memories is playing Monopoly with her when she babysat my older brother and I. I remember her making the two of us roar with laughter. She made everything exciting, everything joyous. To this day, whenever my brother and I play Monopoly or any board game for that matter, we mention the time we played Monopoly with Auntie Linda and how fun it was.

When I got slightly older, my Dad ended up moving to the same road as her for about a year or so. It was at this point our bond grew even stronger. I would go round her house everyday back then, she’d take me into Town, cook us all roast dinners and give us way too many sweets. Her generosity and kindness was something we adored and is something I will never forget. She was an excellent role model. She taught me never to take life too seriously and to always have time for people. Auntie Linda had time for everybody. When we’d go into town together, she was like a mini celebrity. Everybody knew her and everybody wanted to talk to her.

Her loss is felt by everybody and we will always miss you Auntie Linda.

Love Ben. X

Rest in peace my wonderful Auntie Linda.
My brother and I will be forever grateful for all the memories we shared with you when we were younger.

At such a hard time for us both in our lives, you managed to cheer us all up as well as looking after us in the process.

I will never forget the Sunday roast dinners round your house and constantly laughing at your stories, which I will always cherish and remember.

In my most recent times, it was such an honour to be able to go play Table Tennis with you and Uncle John and I’ll always be thankful for you inviting me and the many happy memories we spent together chatting away whilst both forgetting what the score was.

Thank you for everything Auntie Linda, I’ll take your smile and laughter wherever I go in life.

Rest in peace. Love Joe x
