In loving memory of Beryl Gladys Hodgson who sadly passed away on 10th February 2021.
Mum was a Nurse for many years, starting her training in the fifties and retired as Senior Sister on Intensive Care, which she had helped to set up in the beginning of the seventies. She loved her job and at that time, everyone knew Sister Beryl.
She had a brilliant social life with a close group of friends and had close links with Hadleigh and Thundersley Cricket Club. She loved a party.
She was a great Mum and Grandmother to Tom, Nathan and Alice and Great Grandma to Douglas. She was a much loved Mum in Law to Dean.
She met her husband, Arthur, in the ground floor lounge at Rochford Nurses Home when she had gate crashed a party after she had been Barn Dancing. They were together 67 years.
They travelled together enjoying Holidays in Spain, Ibiza and Greece.
Mum travelled the world with Dad, after her retirement and enjoyed trips to Australia , a highlight was seeing in New Year at Sydney Harbour. She went to Barbados and the Maldives and loved Malaysia and was there when the tsunami hit.
Mum saved Toms life when he was ill, by recognising , before any other Doctor or nurse , that he was struggling. We still don't know how she got the Doctor to come so quickly, but his eyes were watering! She would come up to Great Ormond Street every day to be with us.
She read, and could hold her own with a Crossword and a quiz.
Never conventional, always interesting. Miss you Mum. Mum will be having a private cremation. Please celebrate wonderful her life by raising a glass, having a little dance, or a cup of coffee in your garden
