In loving memory of Rita Nwamaka Burke

On the morning of the 25th January 2021 as the sun rose high in the sky, my mums spirit was also lifted into heaven. She passed away peacefully with me and my cousin by her side listening to her favourite Motown classics.

My mum was the epitomy of strength, something that she gifted to me and for that I am so grateful. She always said when it was her time to go, never to cry, instead smile and remember the good times. What keeps me going is knowing that she is reunited with her love, my father Gary Burke and her parents Virginia and Alexander Onyiah.

She will be missed dearly and life will not be the same without her. I already miss her listening to Whitney Houston, Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight (to name a few) on repeat.
But I know she is now resting in perfect peace.

Forever loved, my mama, Rita Nwamaka Burke

Dear Nenna , I think I am your Auntie, your dad was my brother half of a twin Kevin was/is the other twin. I am Janet, then there was Ian (who has passed away) then came Carol, followed by the twins. We lost touch with your mum when you were a few months old and she moved away from the isle of dogs. I’m so sorry to have found out on searching on Google which I have been doing now and then just to find out how the two of you fared, I’m so sorry my searches were not more thorough. If I recall from your christening your full name is NENNA GARRIE IFANNAO AUDREY BURKE.(sorry I know I have spelled it wrong) but I do know that one of your names means “mothers love”. I’d love to know how you are and what you are up too. I’m not on face book or any off those sites, but ifI have the right Nenna and you would like to make contact my email is on the form,I understand if you do not want to get in touch.Anyway I’ll just say may God keep under his wing, and bless you Mightily. From auntie janet

  • Hi Auntie Janet, I can't believe I am typing this right now. I never thought I would see the day our paths would cross, I have prayed for this moment for as long as I can remember. I cannot seem to find your email address :( I really hope you see this reply and get in touch, my email is ninaburke97@gmail.com. I can't wait to hear from you (I am crying, smiling and shaking all at once). Speak soon, Nnenna (P.s. I can't believe you remember my name after 25 years! Along with almost perfect spelling - Garrie Nnenna Ifunanya Audry) xxx
