UPDATE: The funeral procession & hearse route will be as follows; 11am leaving Poltimore and pausing in centre of village, 11.30AM passing through ISCA Bowling Club & finally at 12 noon passing & pausing at Heavitree Social Centre.

It is with great sadness that Liz Homeyard and family announce that Brian Homeyard finally lost his battle with cancer and passed away on Tuesday 2 February 2021 aged 72 years old. Brian had been battling with his illness for some time and died at home surrounded by his family.

Brian will be lovingly remembered by his wife Liz, children Kevin and Kate and grandchildren Sullivan and Jack. He was a loving husband, amazing father, crazy grandad and good friend to many people. He enjoyed life to the full and was fun, energetic, kind and an inspiration to many. He will be sadly missed by all those that knew him.

Given the current COVID restrictions, it is with great sorrow that the funeral will be limited to a very small gathering.

A link will be shared with everyone who knew Brian to ensure that you can join us to celebrate his life, as he would have wanted you to. And we will be taking a moment during the service for those at home to light a candle in Brian’s memory.

Liz, Kevin & Kate - following on from my earlier message I just wanted to say what a lovely celebration you held for Brian on Saturday - in normal circumstances I would have been there in person but I watched online at the time and I thought you summed up Brian’s life perfectly. It was certainly a celebration of his life and obviously although with great sadness for you all it was also a joyous service full of laughter as he was. I was Brian’s secretary for many years at Cann & Hallett and worked with Gladys etc and we had great fun and laughter and it was a great working there. I also then worked for Brian again for a while at Stones and he had not changed every day was filled with laughter. Peter knew Brian many years ago when they were both at college and went to the classroom huts in Belmont Park and then again in recent years for many long lunches with wine and magic. We both have very fond memories of Brian and send you all our love and best wishes.

We could not have wished for better neighbours than Brian and Liz, we are only sorry we did not live next door to them for longer. Always friendly and cheerful and full of fun and jokes, we spent a lovely evening with them when we met up in Tenerife on one of their many holidays. One little reminder Brian - ‘Walnut Tree! 😉

So hard to post after so many amazing memories provided by friends and family.

I would like to personally thank everyone who donated & provided a memory. I am so grateful that we can contribute to such valuable causes, getting people the help they need in their hour/week/month of need and contribute to research that will one day mean no-one will have to go through what we have.

Dad was extremely special to Pete, Jack & I in so many ways. From the minute I was born to the day he died, he supported & loved me unconditionally. I am eternally grateful and lucky he was my Dad & have so many great memories to remember. Love you always. XX
