Shirley Ivy McKiernan was born in Stepney in 1928 to George and Elizabeth Pashley, followed by her young brother and sister, George and Margaret. The family soon moved to Poplar, a place she would always recall fondly having a poor but happy childhood there. After a move to Hornchurch she eventually settled in Hadleigh, where she made a home raising her three children, Stephen, Paul and Jane. Not only was she a beloved mother, but also a cherished grandmother to Sophie and Emily, Jane’s daughters.
Shirley was a selfless and compassionate woman whose main priority was her family and having a chat! She was a well known figure around Hadleigh and had many friends who will undoubtedly miss her.
Her absence has left a huge void in her family, but her impact on them is far greater. She will be remembered daily and missed deeply.
