In loving memory of Sheila Ann Hayes who sadly passed away on 27th January 2021

Sheila was an extraordinary, loving, supportive and caring mother, sister, friend and colleague. She would always go above and beyond for everyone. She was a massive support for many people over the years and she was the person they would turn to for help, support and advice.

She was a brilliant social worker who not only had huge empathy for the people she worked with, but also challenged oppression and discrimination wherever she encountered it. She was an expert Approved Mental Health Professional who championed and advocated for the rights of people at times of extreme distress and vulnerability. Colleagues would turn to her for advice and wisdom.

She was extremely active and would regularly attend the gym, enjoy being out in the garden, and walking in nature. She was a wonderful walking companion and always ready with a flask of rooibos and some cake to share.

She was a fighter and never gave up. Her strong positive attitude was admirable and she was an inspiration to everyone.

Sheila really was the definition of strength. I'd say even superhuman at times.

She has most definitely left her mark on the world and will never be forgotten.

32 years of wonderful friendship. Darling Sheila, you taught me all there is to know about fighting for justice and fairness and I have been forever changed for the better through knowing you. Your incredible kindness, empathy, positivity and humour have made such a difference in the lives of so many people who you touched both professionally and personally. You were a joy to know and I feel so blessed to have known you. Thank you for all the cake xxx

Sheila was always a force of nature.
I hadn't seen her for many years - but not forgotten her. Sometimes life pulls you in different directions and you lose touch.
We had great times all those years ago even though some of it is a little fuzzy now! She knew how to have a good time and was always the life and soul of the party. She was a great friend and I'm glad to have known her.
My sympathy to all of the family. RIP Sheila x
