A very good friend of my parents, you were a dear person to us Hugh, always kind and jolly, always a gentleman. We have many happy memories of time spent in your company. You lived life with great flair and with a zest for life that we loved and will miss greatly.

Hugh and my father, Norman J. Goodwin, grew up together on The Drive, Orpington, Kent. He was my Godfather. I was fortunate to have seen him many times and my 4 children met him as well, when he visited us in Virginia in the USA. My daughter, Alethea, and I visited for a couple of days in June, 2019, and he was erudite and jolly. The three of us shared a gorgeous lunch at a local countryhouse turned restaurant/hotel. He was a model of a true gentleman to us all. Thank you, Uncle Hugh.

  • Hugh’s travels to the States, to spend time with Enid and the family, then on to meet up with old friends in Canada, were very special times for him.
