In loving memory and fond farewell to a wonderful husband, dad, grandad and brother Eric Ancill, who devastatingly passed away after an accident on Saturday 20th June 2015, aged 82.
Eric is the late husband of Pearl, father to David and grandad to Laura. He is brother to Barry and Janet.
He was born on Water Lane and lived in South Normanton all his life. He is the eldest son of Bill & Evelyn Ancill born on the 13th July 1932.
On the 13th March 1954 he married Pearl (nee Clarke) at St Michael’s Church, South Normanton and went onto have their son David.
Eric was a lorry driver for most of his life and this was also one of his main passions along with gardening and DIY. He could be lost for hours in his garden. On occasions when he was 'missing' he’d be found tinkering with something in his shed.
As a child Laura spent a lot of time with her grandad in the school holidays looking forward to the jobs he had lined up for them to do like knocking down walls (to make the shed bigger!) and riding in the wheel barrow to the church yard to tend family member’s graves.
He would always go out of his way to help anybody if he could.
Throughout his life Eric knew how to have fun and was blessed with a great sense of humour, this combination keeping him very young at heart.
Eric was a true gentleman who enriched the lives of so many; he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Please feel free to leave any messages, memories or photos of Eric on here.
Instead of accepting flowers the family would prefer donations to the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance Service as they did everything they could to help Eric after his accident. One way to do this is via the link to the top right of this page.
Forever with us in our hearts, sleep peacefully – don’t snore too much!
xx
