So sad that such a nice man went too early. Ian was my second cousin and Pete and I will miss him. We had golf and hockey in common as well as love for Elaine. Love to you Jan we have been thinking of you and the family.

Well mate, we never did get that pint in the pub together.
It was a privelege to have you as a colleague and more so as a great pal. Forever helpful and optimistic as we struggled to get those American companies into the UK (remember Amazon). Charging around New England hunting them down on beautiful Fall days. Having you stay with us in Connecticut and getting you to a New York Yankees game. And more recently spending time together rambling around Lisbon.
Keep a bar stool warm for me buddy. In fondest memory, Andy and Cheryl

Ian was a fine hockey player during his time at Leicester University. A powerful and dependable full back, he possessed a fearsome shot and scored many vital goals. Many of us had lost touch with Ian in the years since Leicester, but when we heard of Ian’s sad passing, all of our memories went back to some of the best times we shared with Ian, not least the disallowed goal he scored in the quarter final of the all UK universities competition - a man for the big occasion. We can all see from some of the tributes made here that Ian lived his life like he did with the hockey club at university- talented, dependable, loyal, yet modest and an all round damned good bloke.

Dear Jan, Cheryl, Mark and Elaine. I want to send you all my love in the memory of Ian. As you know I grew up with Gary and Ian and have the best memories of just laughter. It has been a privilege to have known these two special people as well as Gordon and Elaine. Tina and Adrian's photos tell the story of a wonderful, happy, clever man who always lit up a room, was a loyal friend and wonderful family man, husband and son. Everyone will miss you Ian. Love to Jan and the family.

It’s a long time since Ian and I were colleagues on the Americas desk at UK Trade & Investment, but I have many fond memories of working with him, including our annual golfing escapades in Yorkshire. Ian was a true gentleman – always charming, kind and considerate, with a dry wit and an enviable air of calm and quiet authority. He was the best of us, and I was so sorry to hear of his passing. Deepest sympathy to Jan and family.
