On Thursday 21st January 2021, David Turp unexpectantly passed away at the age of 71.
Dave was a kind, honest man, known as the gentle giant by some. Dave was predeceased by his parents John and Kath and his brother Peter, whom he missed deeply.
Born in Orsett hospital in 1949 to John and Kath, he was brought up with his five siblings in Laburnham Road, Corringham.
As a youngster Dave was always getting up to mischief with his brother Peter.
In his teenage years Dave enjoyed night fishing with his friends Tony and Len, He also liked Golf, Rugby and snooker.
Dave was a hard worker and spent most of his working life at Durox in Linford and gained many good friends throughout his time there. He later worked at Canary Wharf.
At the age of 20 he met Carol at work. In October 1970 they married at Southend registry office. In May 1971 their first daughter Nicki was born followed by Bobbie in December 1972. Dave and Carol gave Nicki and Bobbie a very happy childhood. Taking them to many parties, DJ’d by Carol’s parents Flo and Ron and on numerous breaks in the campervan and later caravan that Dave had fitted out himself.
Family was extremely important to Dave and he enjoyed camping and caravanning and even took along the 2 pet cats.

At the age of 41 he became a grandad and now has 4 grandsons.
With his children settled, he enjoyed many holidays abroad making amazing memories with Carol, visiting many far-away places by aeroplane and cruise ship. Always having a friendly chat with locals and cruise ship workers.
