Jason Catley - A Life Well Lived

In loving memory of the late Jason Catley who sadly passed away on 20th June 2015

Jason was a truly inspirational man. His glass was always more than half full and his vibrancy, enthusiasm, humour and vigour for life meant that he connected with so many people and left a lasting and positive impression.

He was a brilliantly ‘cool’ and devoted Dad to four children, a loving husband and a hugely popular and respected man amongst all his friends, colleagues and fellow cyclists.

Jason was a passionate and talented cyclist. He not only raced but also raised thousands for charity, in particularly for the British Heart Foundation that was a cause close to him after the tragic passing of his own brother Greg 14 years ago.

The family understands that the close knit cycling community would like to celebrate Jason’s life in a way the man himself would have loved. With this in mind could all donations be made to The British Heart Foundation via this website.

The family will be holding a private memorial service for immediate relatives and close friends only.

At a later date they will be celebrating a life well lived.

Jason's family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the overwhelming amount of support, love, comfort and condolences that they have been offered following the tragic death of Jason.

Everyone at R G Carter who rode with Jason on the John Lewis Charity rides to Europe would just like to express their sadness after only just hearing of this tragic event. Jason was both a strong rider and a great character on the rides and will be sorely missed.

I met Jason on the day of Robert and Lou's wedding. Jason and I were ushers together that day. But my day had started off very stressful as my tuxedo was missing its corresponding tie and I had scrambled to produce a solution. Arriving at the chapel (and being a foreigner...) I was uncertain if the ceremony had any special English protocol that I was not familiar with. It was obvious to Jason that I was a bit uncomfortable. Jason walked over to me and with a bit of James Bond flare said... alright, listen mate... you seat the pretty ones and I will escort any ugly ones out the back! Instantly I was laughing! In seconds Jason had me at ease, had me laughing ...and more importantly had me wanting to get to know him well. The rest of the week was no less telling. Jason's grace, humor and love for his family and friends were present with him always. What a wonderful impression he left with me. Cheers to you Jason. Until we meet again mate!

Jason Catley, man in lycra, B&K will never be the same without you. One of those people that i feel blessed to have known: always such a zest for life, infectious enthusiasm, great sense of humour and obvious love for his family and friends. No words can truly express the sadness and shock felt at hearing of Jason's passing. My thoughts are with his loved ones. Rest in peace Jason X

Very saddened to hear of Jason's untimely death. I have worked on projects with Jason and always found him to be very professional in the way that he conducted himself but also very good fun to work alongside. He often spoke of his family and of his love of cycling. He will be greatly missed.
