Brian was a much loved family man, highly respected for his work in all aspects of education, and seen as an inspiring Christian leader, preacher and friend. Always concerned for those struggling to cope, he would have liked any donations to go to Shelter - a charity whose work is greatly needed at the current time.

There will be a service of thanksgiving for, and celebration of, Brian's life to which all will be invited when the current restrictions lift. In person attendance on 1 February at the church service and committal is of course very limited. If you would like to attend by Zoom, contact Pat Evans for details. Alternatively, you can follow the church service on Facebook. Search "Christ Church Hipperholme" on Facebook. There are lots of Christ Churches so adding Hipperholme will help. Or you can use this link: https://www.facebook.com/christchurchhalifax

Follow Christ Church's Facebook page by tapping on the ‘thumbs up’ icon or pressing ‘like’, ‘follow’ or ‘join’ (depending on what type of device you are using).

At the time of the funeral service, go to Christ Church’s Facebook page and, if you scroll down from the headings, you will see that the service is being broadcast as a live video. The broadcast will start at approximately 10:55.

A recording of the service will be available afterwards on Christ Church's Facebook page and on Youtube.

Brian was a great friend of my husband, Bob, from the age of 8.They met at their local church in Acton, where Brian’s father was the Minister and Bob’s father was the Treasurer. Life took them in different directions as teenagers until they met on a school rugby pitch in Yorkshire supporting opposing teams many years later.

Shortly after that Bob successfully applied for a Deputy Headship at the school where Brian was the Head without knowing in advance that this was the case. This is where their friendship was re-kindled. Our two families went on to develop a deep and lasting friendship including many holidays together which included trips away in caravans to safaris in Africa.

Bob died some years ago, but Pat and Brian remained close friends to me. I will sorely miss Brian and will always value the support, care and love he showed me. He was a man of great integrity, faith and humanity. I will miss him deeply.

In memory of my former head teacher. I've always remembered his kind, dignified authority in the school.
