Jeanie Gwyther (1 Nov 1952 - 17 Jan 2021)

Dear all.

It's with a heavy heart I am informing you that Jeanie passed away, on Sunday 17th January due to COVID 19.

As you all know, Jeanie hasn't had it easy for last eight years, as back in 2013 she was diagnosed with Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia. This is a rare type of cancer that begins in the white blood cells. Jeanie went through rounds of treatment, and in true Jeanie style, she bounced back and recovered. A few years later Jeanie was taken back in to hospital, as she was unwell, sadly she was later diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, another type of blood cancer. There was a long road ahead, but after a bone marrow transplant, stem cell transplant, spleen removal, and more rounds of treatment, including a year of preventative treatment, Jeanie yet again was back on the road to recovery and in remission.

For any of you that was lucky enough to know her, you will know she was a fighter and a very strong women. She would always tell you she was fine. Her wish was to donate her body to science, as she felt the doctors would be able to learn a lot from her. as she was very unique, but unfortunately due to COVID 19, we are not able to fulfil that wish for her. So we made the decision to help a charity close to her.
