In loving memory of Elsie Myrtle Lough who sadly passed away on 16th January 2021 having reached her 90th year. (06/01/1931 - 16/01/2021). She is survived by her sons Robert and Andrew and her granddaughter, Cara.
Elsie was born in Streatham to Eleanor (Elsie) and George Ring. Before the Second World War the family moved to Hockley in Essex to be closer to other family members. Mum attended Westcliff High School and afterwards started work as a Shorthand Secretary in the Royal Bank of Scotland in London, where she met her future husband, Thomas (Tommy) Lough. They married in June 1957. She gave up work to raise her family and once her sons were older she returned to a part time role as a bookkeeper for a local building firm to keep active and occupied.
She always had a very active mind and this remained the case until her passing. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, card games, including Bridge, and jigsaw puzzles. She was also a keen gardener and loved flowers of all types, to the extent that even when her health was failing she still insisted in using her electric buggy to roll around the garden still tending to her flowers.
She showed immense strength and fortitude in fighting three separate bouts of cancer in her life, but was not one to complain or bemoan her situation, just ploughing on with life as best she could.
She will be sadly missed by all her family and many friends.
