Good old Dave , I got so many memories of good times I had round your house with John , Baz and the lads . Your door was always open to me and you was always there if I needed advice on anything in life from little things like a ingrown toenail or any other problems life threw at us nothing was ever too much trouble . I must of eaten a million of your pickled onions/eggs which are the best !! And in my own little world you will go down as the only man to ever make me a coffee 😊 it was a pleasure to have known you Dave , rest in peace 💙💙💙

You are a neighbour that will be sadly missed. A neighbour in the hearts of knowing for 32 years. Rosebay Court will not be the same without you. I will always remember your great wisdom and memories of stories of you being a medic in the Navy. Be very missed. From Terry and Haroleen

Dave just a message to say forever loved never forgotten. Sorry your not here anymore . But I'm glad we had a last final chat before you left to be in peace . You showed me the way from such a young age how to ride a bike to pick blackberries ready for wine making and even hours of endless fun running around throwing the ball for mitsy and penny whilst out on there run . Thanks for contributing in bringing me up and paving the way to life with a few simple tools needed to see me through and always when a little older getting me mixed up by calling me my little sidekick Leightons name instead of my actual name. Goodbye my friend goodbye my second dad . You are already missed x

This world didn’t deserve a man like you, no matter what anyone had done or said u would always understand them and take them for what they were without making judgement. I love u more than words can describe and I feel as though you were snatched from me when I needed you most, you never ever lost your smile or your courage and fought the battle to then end and didn’t give up u r a true soldier and everyone that knew you were so privileged to have met you. Whenever I had tough times or things weren’t working you would just simply say leave the arseholes behind and move on they’re not worth your time, and I will never forget that or the lessons you taught me. I am so grateful to have you as my grandad and now your gone and my only family Is gone I have been torn apart, but just like you would of done, I will hold my head high, smile and “always look on the bright side of life”.I know you will watch over me as I grow, but if there was one regret it had it would be letting you walk out the door on Christmas Day and not saying goodbye properly and not being able to give give u a big hug before u passed but I know I will see u again one-day and I love you, rest well 💙🕊💙

Dave, you formed a special part of our lives, as both a role model and a friend. For Scott you were a dear friend of his late mum and a father-figure as he grew up. To me you were a dear family friend whose friendly face often appeared over the garden wall, and who would often sit and chat with my dad - we have many memories of your Saki.

You were a kind, fascinating man, and you lived such a colourful life. You will be so sadly missed and dearly remembered. Sending our love to your family. Xxx

I have struggled in finding the words to describe the genuine loss I & others close to Dave, now feel....

For me, Dave is my mate. And I say "is" because he will always be my mate. I think about him daily.

Over the fence talks, secret meet ups at the allotment, test dummy for his insanely fuelled alcohol, equally being comfortable with each other from the get go. 40 years difference in age, but that meant nothing. We clicked as neighbours initially, best friends for the last 10 years and not only an integral part of my family but an unstoppable force and icon for his own.

I loved Dave for his ease, comfort and sarcasm. His, "oo, I'll whip that home" after spotting an old plastic drum whilst we walked the dogs.

I loved Dave for his sheer determination, grit and old school navy spirt.

I loved Dave because he brought the best out in others. He thought of others before himself.

You leave behind a wake of tears Dave.. But these tears will be of joy, happiness, family and love, knowing you'll forever watch down as our angel..

Sleep Well - See you one day xx

I have many fond memories of Dave from my teenage years. We were always welcome in the house and he always had time for a chat. Not to forget how we all loved a sample of his home brews.
A wonderful man who will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Dave and love to all the family x

Dave,

You became so much more than a father in law to me, a friend confidante and advisor in every thing from the cricket to quantum mechanics.

We had so many chats over the years and although you have now passed I will still always maintain that Wales are rubbish at rugby but I never did find those bed trousers?

You have enabled me to have a life so fulfilled with your beautiful daughter and I am so happy that my 5 wonderful children all got to know you so well and became friends with you as well. I will also be forever in your debt that you stepped up to become the father that I needed in my life when others had failed.

Your memory, spirit and wicked sense of humour will live on in Mel and the kids and we will remember you every day that passes.

Sleep well mate x
