In loving memory of Elaine Katherine White who sadly passed away on 31st December 2020
The White family would like to sincerely thank everyone who was able to attend Elaine’s funeral, those who joined by webcam and those not able to join due to the Coronavirus, but have sent messages of support, condolences and kindness at this difficult time.
Elaine was born on the 26th July 1945 in Leicester.
She was the youngest of four children born to Ken and Francis Bugby.
She had two brothers, Barry who died of a heart attack aged 54, Alan who died of a heart attack aged 62 and a sister, Brenda, who died of cancer aged 54.
So, at the age of 75, Elaine was the last survivor of that family when she died on the 31th December 2020.
Elaine attended Green Lane Infant’s School and then moved onto Dale Girls Secondary school. It was there that she met Michael who had attended Dale Boys Secondary having left 12 months earlier, but kept in touch with some of the teachers.
(It has been said it was Michael’s new 350 cc motorcycle that first attracted Elaine rather than Michael’s looks).
At 15 years of age she left school and joined her mother as a machinist at Wyndale Gowns.
Elaine and Michael became an inseparable item until 16th February 1963 when they got married at St. Pocklingtons Registry Office in Leicester.
Michael held various sales positions until 1969 when he became the car sales manager for Hooley’s Garage on Derby Road, which brought about their move to Nottingham. Later he started his own used car wholesaling business with Elaine as his business partner.
Elaine truly enjoyed her share of their success from Rolls Royce’s, holidays abroad, days out in London and so on. Michael loved to see her so happy right up until December 2018 when they spent their last holiday abroad together in Tenerife with their daughter Deborah.
Elaine’s health problems started around 3 years ago and during the start of this spent many weeks in hospital before a diagnosis was reached and it was confirmed Elaine had lupus, later becoming the subject of a medical paper due to the circumstances of contracting the disease.
A short reprieve until the following February when Elaine was again admitted to the Queen’s Medical Centre only this time being discharge for end of life care at a nursing home with between 2 and 6 weeks to live.
Elaine was a fighter and certainly proved them wrong because that was almost 2 years ago!
Elaine was in and out of hospitals and nursing homes until her health improved and Michael was able to move out of the family home in Wollaton to an adapted bungalow in Mapperley to be nearer to their daughter. Elaine joined him here just in time for Christmas (2019) at which point Michael became her full time carer.
Back in hospital in early October Elaine suffered a stroke returning home briefly to the bungalow before once again becoming a resident at Beechdale Manor Care Home where she passed away peacefully in the early hours of the 31th December 2020.
The kindness and care she received at Beechdale will always be remembered.
Elaine leaves her daughter Deborah, her son Bradley, her grandchildren and her loving husband Michael.
She will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with her.
Her humility, kindness and ability to help anyone who had a problem will be sorely missed.
