In loving memory of the late Eileen Nora Mary Boot who sadly passed away on 15th June 2015

Eileen was born in Horwich to loving, doting parents, Hughie Foley, and Alice Florence Caldwell. She quickly moved to Canada in 1924 where her brother, Terry was subsequently born.

Eileen's memories of Canada and America revolved around the work her father Hugh took with the Chevrolet company in Detroit Michigan. She liked Canada, her school friends and Mrs Mckee with whom the family boarded in Sandwich, Windsor, ON Canada. Unfortunately, the Chevrolet company in Detroit, Michigan, where Hughie worked, crossing the border every day to to the USA, eventually insisted that to keep the job, the family must move to Ferndale Michigan. However, Alice and Eileen, never liked it as well in America, so when Chevrolet informed Hughie, that he and his family must take US citizenship, to stay and work in the USA, the family decided to move back home.

Eileen's teeneage years in the pre-war years, were happy. Now living in Horwich, she doted on her dog Judy, and of course, boyfriends came along. Two in particular were happy times. Ronnie Orr, a very tall boy, had a fish and chip shop (or at least his parents did)! Les Hodson was a bright, intelligent and good looking boy whom Eileen's Mother liked very much. Les wanted to Marry Eileen, but Eileen wasn't ready for that... she wanted to wait and have a bit more fun.

War years approached, and Eileen met Lawrence Boot at a Dance. Romance ensued and a written correspondence began as Lawrence was posted to Egypt. Their Marrage came after the war in May 1948.
Martin was the first boy in 1949
Roger was the second in 1958
Steven was the third in 1962

Life revolved around Lawrence's work in textiles... and in 1963 he bought his own factory. The family did quite well, life was good.

The boys all did well at school and all went on to begin their own lives with new wives, and their own families.
Martin and Elise had four children, James, Helena, Edward and Sophie
James and Saskia have two children, Poppy and Peter
Roger had three partners, the last of which he married. Colette. There are no children
Stephen and Jane had two children, Robert and Andrew

Retirement wasn't quite what Eileen imagined. Lawrence died suddenly in 1997, followed by brother Terry and Eileen's son, Martin in 1998.

Eileen was still doing well until her 84th year, but her memory was failing. A series of physical ailments followed by a bad infection left Eileen fearful and she moved out of the family home in Lowdham to live in residence. By 2007, Eileen had to move again after a diagnosis of "Dementia." Her last years were spent at Beech Court Care Home where Eileen lived another 8 years until age 94, a good age by any standard, but exceptional given the sad prognosis that robbed Eileen of all but her early memories.

The family will miss her, but her legacy lives on in her Grandchildren who never really got to spend as much time with their Grandma as they would have liked. Eileen never met her Great Grandchildren, but, Poppy and Peter Boot will also carry her legacy.

Eileen, you made such a difference to my life and the life of my family. You were kind and generous, and gave your time willingly, making sure everyone was well looked after. My Dad still has a twinkle in his eyes when your name was mentioned (such a flirt) but you were always so well presented and good fun.My Mum and Dad, always remember your dancing days with fondness. You are finally at peace. Enjoy. Jane Horne (Tunney) x
