Rest in peace Uncle Doug. I am sorry I never got to share the glass of whisky with you which we talked about when we last met.

Thanks for the good memories I have of you from my younger days. I am sorry I can't be there to say goodbye in person.

Doug was a good man. He was always kind and inclusive to me. A stand out moment a few years back I was burgled. Ben was in Thailand with Neal and I was pretty distraught. Doug called me a couple of days later and said that he and Joan were going to take me out to tea. I was picked up and taken to a favourite fish restaurant of theirs. I had a lovely much needed, few hours away from the house. It was an act of kindness I'll always remember. Strangely I've passed the restaurant many times since Doug passed away. Sleep well Doug xx

Doug was my friend for half of my life. As children, my kids knew him as 'Uncle Doug'.
We used to argue, especi9ally after half a dozen pints, as to who deserved the title
'Almost A Gentleman'. It must have been me because you, my friend, were a true gent.
Goodnight Mate.
