Funeral Director
In loving memory of Penny Goodchild – wife, mum, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, arts worker, Reverend, musician, baker, community organiser, notebook hoarder, seamstress, avid reader, graduate, volunteer, homemaker, lover of grandad jokes, dab hand at keeping grandchildren entertained (or is that the other way around?!) and much, much more…
Taken sooner than expected and will be greatly missed.

The funeral for Penny will take place on Friday 8th January 2021 at 1pm.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions (which apply at the time of writing), a maximum of only 30 people can attend the service at the crematorium and this is strictly by invitation only.
Family have been invited first but, due to health concerns and travel restrictions, there may be spaces available. If any of Penny’s friends would like to be considered for an available space, please e-mail the family on:
revpennyfuneral@gmail.com.
Space will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and any invitations will be emailed directly from a member of the family.
Anyone attending will be required to provide their personal contact details for track and trace purposes.
The service will also be streamed live. If you would like to watch the funeral online from the comfort of your own home, please use the e-mail to request the link as there is a viewer limit.
Please DO NOT attend the site unless you have a formal invitation directly from a family member. You will not be able to wait outside the crematorium as gathering in public places is currently illegal and unlike normal funerals, people must not wait outside the crematorium.
Thank you for your understanding and hopefully you can appreciate how difficult it is to try and arrange the best funeral we can for Penny during these trying times.
Thank you to John Davis for his invaluable help with the funeral arrangements.
Ashgate Hospice was incredible in the way they looked after Penny, Richard and the girls during her short stay in there. They do an amazing job for which we will be forever grateful. The pandemic has seriously affected their funding and therefore, instead of flowers, Penny would be pleased if you could make donations to Ashgate Hospice. Thank you.
