In loving memory of Betty Darkins who sadly passed away on 2nd December 2020.
Born in Retford in 1928 Betty spent most of her childhood and early adulthood around Manchester and then Doncaster, following in her fathers footsteps working on the railway. She met and married Brian in 1952 and moved to Nottingham. They moved to the house in Stapleford in 1958 and stayed there until their death. Brian passed away in 1999. They had three children Jackie, Jane and Charlie who produced an impressive 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren with their respective partners Joe, Robert and Lisa. They are James, Matthew, Daniel and Thomas; Charlie, Eleanor, Lucy, Rosie and Harry; Luke, Becky and Andrew. Oliver, Matilda, Tess, Barnaby and Mabel. Betty loved spending time with her large family and many parties and holidays were enjoyed with them all.
Betty always loved to read and had worked as both a playgroup leader and youth worker, her granddaughter Eleanor inherited her love of books and is now a published author. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the book trust via this website.
She will be so missed by all.
