Very sad to hear about John's passing and the health difficulties of his last few years.
Like Hughie Turner together with Mike Constant, Bob Gayford, Bill and Monica Driver and numerous others I knew John from his time in Bahrain and, from the fun times we had at another MCC ( the Manama Cricket Club). He was a keen but always fair competitor on the field and great fun at the various social functions we arranged .
My condolences to all the family who will no doubt miss him deeply ,but will have many fond times to remember

I truly am sorry for your loss... It is a big loss. John was larger than life, and you will miss his presence in times to come. He was your mainstay for so many years. You wake in the morning to tend to him, and lay with him till he went to sleep. You were aware of his need, every want. You cared for him 24/7.

And now what next? When the dust has settled, and matters sorted, there will be time for Trish to grieve and reflect on the times you had together ....happy times, drunken times, laughter times, long lunches with friends, family times, and the no-so- well times, and the mammoth task of getting him of Menorca times.

The last couple of years have been a challenge for you both, and so , it was his time to go . He will be remembered fondly by so many ...business acquaintances, almost the whole of Menorca-certainly Es Castell - Trent Bridge Cricket Club, Menorca Cricket Club, and you, Sam and Nic, and the grandchildren Sebastian,Ella, Casey will miss him terribly.

I am sure there will be some lovely tributes to your dear John...charmer,larrikin.generous to a fault , bossy, funny, acute business man, and so stoic and brave to have coped with what he was dealt.

My thoughts are with you especially and to all the family .

Pat x

I always looked forward to and enjoyed my meetings and lunches with John. After we had discussed business the talk always turned to his favourite topic - cricket.
John was always such good company. My condolences go to Trish and the rest of his family.

It's always difficult to find the right words when someone you know passes away. I had the privilege of getting to know John through a business relationship and found him to be someone of true character always found him to be very positive in life no matter what his situation was . It was a pleasure to have been lucky enough to have known such a lovely person. My thoughts goes out to Trish and all the family and friends in this difficult time .

What really impressed me over the years has been Johns courage against all odds in facing up to the paralysis in his legs caused by a tumour on his Spinal Cord. If that wasn’t bad enough, he then bravely
encountered the amputation of his left leg. Even then he was determined to continue running his Business from his bed very
successfully for many years to provide for his family.

I don’t think this would have been possible without the loving dedication from Trish, his long time partner and wife who tirelessly cared for John through thick and thin, and who I know
will always miss him dearly.

John was a truly remarkable, generous, kind man who would help anyone in need. He will be sorely missed by Trish, daughters Sam and Nic , grandchildren Sebastian, Ella and Casey whom he dearly loved.

Love and condolences to the family.

John

I knew of John for several years before getting to meet him. I was invited to Sunday lunch and could bring a friend. That friend was Trish. The rest is history. Rest in peace John.

Uncle John will be missed deeply, our hearts full of sadness but comforted with many wonderful memories.
Loved and respected by so many for his wonderful generosity and courage but asking little in return. Full of stories to make you laugh and yet words of wisdom when you needed guidance. At times life has been cruel but his battle was bravely fought.
Our thoughts and love are with Trish, Samantha, Nicola, Sebastian, Ella and Casey. God bless you and keep you safe.
Suzanne, Joanne and our families x
