Working as your pa in Felixstowe was one of the happiest jobs I had. We had many laughs and after I left I always sent you a text on your birthday. The last time I saw you was in London at your retirement party. You asked me to never stop sending a text on your birthday and last April you sent a lovely reply. I am sorry that was the last birthday wishes I will send. RIP Peter, a great guy

Peter The PSP Association
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Peter Maybury, 3rd of April 1951 - 3rd of December 2020. Pete was our much loved husband, dad, stepdad, grandad, brother and friend, who always lived life to the fullest.
In 2019, after an earlier misdiagnosis of Parkinson's, Pete was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, or PSP, which is an incredibly rare degenerative brain disorder. Symptoms of PSP include rapidly progressing difficulties with balance, movement, vision, speech and swallowing and there is currently no cure nor any effective treatment. As was typical of him throughout his life, Pete fought this cruel disease with dignity and was never one to complain.
The PSP Association is a charity providing support and information to people living with PSP, while funding research into treatments and, ultimately, a cure. It is the only charity supporting people with this condition across the UK and relies entirely upon voluntary donations and so we would greatly appreciate any donation you can give to support this cause that is so close to our hearts.
Please enjoy the collection of photos we have uploaded, and feel free to add any of your own memories of Pete.
Unfortunately, as a result of coronavirus, we are only able to host a funeral of 12 of those closest to Pete. Which is particularly disappointing considering the number of people we know that would want to pay their final respects.
In order to maximise people's involvement in the funeral, we thought that it would be nice if people would line the street along Hall Park Avenue towards the seafront in order that anyone has an opportunity to say goodbye to Pete as they so wish.
We are scheduled to leave 23 Hall Park Avenue at 12:30 on Tuesday the 22nd of December and drive down to the seafront and then on to the funeral.
We look forward in the summer to hosting a wake / party in Pete's memory, when risks and restrictions are hopefully more forgiving. As a result of current restrictions, any wake, like the funeral would be heavily restricted which wouldn't have been to Pete's wishes.
