In loving memory of Sandra Blundell who sadly passed away on 4th November 2020.
Sandra Blundell (nee Bates), loving mother, nan, sister, aunty and friend, sadly passed away on November the 4th at the age of 73. Sandra had been coping with Myeloma for the last few years and despite her treatment she lived a full and active life until recent weeks.
After being born in Feltham, Middlesex, Sandra grew up in Langford before moving to Chelmsford with her parents Bill and Barbara Bates and sister Hazel. She attended Hatfield Peverel, Kings Road and then Rainsford School before working for Britvic. Sandra married David Blundell and had two sons, Lee and Dean, both of whom still live in Chelmsford and spent many years enjoying family time with Sandra and her grandchildren Owen, Jasmine, Jake and Evan.
Sandra made many friends through working at Britvic, Halfords, Tile Kiln Chapel and County Linen, supporting local football, especially Galleywood FC whom her sons and Grandson Owen played for and more recently through attending W.I. in Galleywood. She loved her sport, particularly horseracing and her beloved West Ham and she loved coach holidays with Hazel, particularly Scotland and the South West of England.
Sandra gave generously to Farleigh Hospice throughout her life and Macmillan helped her a great deal in her final years. We will remember her shouting on the touchline, cheering on her horses, singing silly songs, making us laugh, playing scrabble and being a wonderful, brave and kind lady.

Sandra's funeral will be on Friday 4th November but due to current number limitations, it will be attended by a small number of family and invited guests only. We will celebrate her life and raise a glass when the world returns to some form of normality next year.

  • Thank you Terry and June. Mum would be so pleased we’ve been able to donate so much to both charities and that everyone remembers what a kind and lovely lady she was. Have a good Christmas and stay safe, Best Wishes, Lee and Dean x.

A lovely lady who was a friend of me and my late wife Christine. Fond memories of sharing the touch line with her watching our sons playing together for Galleywood Eagles.

  • Thanks Mike, it was always fun watching Mum, Chris and the other Mum’s when a goal went in. They had normally been chatting away and missed it. Belated cheering, finding out which son had scored and getting details from the DD’s in case they got asked what the goal was like after the match. Great memories at yours as well playing computer games with Paul, Neil and Dean and a great caravan holiday in Derbyshire. Love and a merry Christmas to you, Paul, Neil and their families. x

A lovely kind lady who was a friend of my late wife Christine and who we have fond memories of at the touch line at Galleywood Eagles when our sons played together. We shared the same birthday, 14th May, and she always walked round to post a card through my door right up until this year.
