In loving memory of the late Gladys Ruth Foster who passed away peacefully but suddenly on 6th June 2015 at the Royal Derby Hospital, aged 87 years.

Reunited at last with her beloved late husband Gordon. Cherished Mum of Helen and adored Nan to David, Karen, James, Lauren, Kieran and Charlie.

Gladys was born in Burton on Trent in 1928 as Gladys Wightman. She had one brother Ronald and the pair grew up in a loving household, albeit short of money as all households were during the war. She met Gordon Foster as a 17 year old. He was a signalman and apparently made up his mind to marry her when he first saw her. They married when both were 21 years old and from that day on were never apart. They had one daughter Helen who benefited from the most wonderful parents ever. When they both retired, they were busier than ever with their hobbies, but did them all together. Ballroom dancing, bowls, swimming, holidays with another couple, even St John Ambulance Brigade. Gordon did the first aid, Gladys made the tea. When Gordon died in 2006 Gladys never really got over it. She still carried on with bowls, but her heart wasn't in it. Latterly her health failed and all she wanted was to rejoin her beloved husband.
She has her wish now, may the pair rest in peace, together forever.

Over the last few years along with Helen, and my wife we have enjoyed a few very pleasant days trips out with Gladys. Gladys appeared to enjoy these days but always had the feeling she was imposing on us never realising what a pleasure her company was, her company and warm smile always made these days very memorable. One of the World's genuinely nice people Gladys will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Both Christine and I are sorry we will not be able to enjoy anymore days out with her but take comfort in that Gladys is where she latterly really wanted to be, back with her husband, Gordon. God Bless, Rest in Peace, Love Alan & Christine.

Gladys was a special lady. In the years she had been part of my life I never heard her say anything bad, always seeing the good in everyone. She was a pleasure to be with the days we had at the gardening centre and the lunches. I am going to miss her so much.

Ur the one that taught me how to play cards. I remember every school holiday sitting with you and grandad even gran playing cards, baking and having cups of tea. I love you so much my life feels so incomplete without you but I know you would want me to move on and enjoy life with your great grandchildren.
I will never forget you I will take my memories with me and remember all the happy times we had. I know though you are where you want to be with granddad. Make sure you look after one another.
Love you forever xxx

You were the best neighbour that we could have asked for. Always popping over to visit my mum, Millie, even when she no longer could remember you. We will miss you so much. Rest well now. Love John and Maureen xx
