In loving memory of Jean Louise Asquith who sadly passed away on 15th November 2020
Mum was a war child and told us many stories about living in Peckham during the 2nd world war, some were scary but a lot of them were funny and always expressed the great bond of the Londoners. One always makes us smile when she use to tell us her own father, our grandad would say I’m not getting out of my bed for hitler!

Mum enjoyed the simple things in life and especially a laugh. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed her new lease of life with as she would say (the girls) her bowling mates, they had great times and many laughs together.

She always said she was a town girl but recently had found a new love for the countryside and woods spending many hours watching the birds and looking at the different trees.

A big part of our lives has been sadly taken away from us and she is dearly missed.

Jean you will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved you. As a good neighbour for over 20 years, you always made time to chat and most of all laugh with anyone you came in contact with. I recall you knocking one evening years ago, asking to borrow one of the kids school tie, you had a fancy dress party to go to I think with your bowls club, and you were going as a St. Trinnian’s school girl.
You were laughing then and that’s the way I would like to remember you always, often bumped into you on your way to get a newspaper or coming back from just getting one, we would always have a chat and a laugh together about something or other.
RIP Jean
Sincere condolences to all your family and friends
Love Maggie, Wayne & Family xx

Such fond memories of a dear, dear Aunt.

I will always remember your kindness and the fun times I had with you. Your giggle made me laugh as a child and later made my daughters laugh too. I enjoyed the Christmas times at your house, with Uncle Terry and my cousins and playing with Sandy, the dog. You were always there throughout my life, came to my wedding and you met my first daughter at just weeks old. This summer you wrote to my daughter Grace saying 'I live in the middle of the countryside. There are plenty of rabbits and wildlife running around. We have a lake with white ducks which is quite unusual, ' we loved it when we visited you there. You had weekly conversations with Olivia, my second eldest, and I know she enjoyed talking about the olden times with you. In one letter you wrote to my girls you said 'how lucky to have sisters that help you, ' I know my mum was very lucky to have you as her sister and she loved those days she visited you when I was working near London. I would drop her off and I think you chatted all day.
You were very loved and will be dearly missed.

Darling Jean,
Can’t believe your gone ❤️ Next Summer at my auntie’s & John just won’t be the same without you. We will miss you, your knowledgeable conversations about the old days, stories about when your children were young, how times have changed and giving advice on how we can manage with our own kids. These will always be treasured. I will always admire your strength even after everything you went through I never once heard you complain, you smiled through it. Rest in eternal peace angel.

I have known Jean for over 20 years by being her Avon lady. It was always a pleasure to call on Jean because we would share our stories and even if life was a bit troublesome Jean would always make me laugh and I would come away feeling happier and uplifted.
Jeans passing is a great loss to many people but I think she made a mark on everyone's life and I know I am grateful to have known her and Jeanie. Thanks Jean - you were a very special, kind and generous person. God bless you.

I have so many happy memories, Jean. For 8 years we partnered in the Eastbourne Open bowling competition and we were runners up one year! Our holidays at different locations around England every year were full of laughter, and we always seemed to know what the other one was thinking. Our weekly lunch dates on a Friday with Pat and Pam. You was my soul mate Jean, and I shall miss you so much . Goodbye my friend, love Johnny xxxx

My Dearest mum we are so missing you
Looking out of our window just thinking of you.

We look over there but you’re lights are not on,
It just confirms that you have now sadly gone,

You sat the in the woods listening to the birds sing,
Enjoying the beauty that nature does bring .

You played with the kids in the summer sun,
Watching from your chair while they were having fun !

Going down the lane with your walking stick,
We thought you would be ages, but you were often quick

So my dearest mum, wherever you have gone
Please let me tell you that one day we will all come along ,
But for now we have no choice as we try to carry on
With tears in our eyes, we will try to stay strong.

Rest in peace my dearest mum love you
Xxx
