Our lovely dad passed away peacefully on 12th November aged 88 years
A loving dad to Janet, Nikki and Jonathan and father in law to Melvyn, John and Alison.
Grandpa to Marc, Adam, Martyn, Charlotte, Sarah and Richard.
He was the best dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa we could have asked for, a brother, uncle and good friend to so many, and will be sadly missed
Roy was a founder member of the Draycott and Long Eaton Table Tennis Club and was well known in table tennis around the country as a player, umpire and coach. He was very active in developing table tennis in Nottingham and Derby encouraging many young people into the sport and others into the over 50’s clubs
He had bravely been struggling with health issues and Alzheimer’s but never complained and always had a smile on his face. Sadly, he was diagnosed with covid and was not strong enough to fight it. We were lucky enough to be able to say goodbye and he died peacefully surrounded by his family.
A special thank you to the staff at Lacemaker Court and the Lacemaker residential unit who cared for him so well in his final days.
Due to restrictions, there will be a private funeral at Bramcote crematorium with a memorial to celebrate his life next year when restrictions are eased. All will be welcome at the memorial and details will follow
Family flowers only but donations to the Alzheimer’s Society can be made in memory of Roy via Lymns funeral directors Long Eaton
