In loving memory of Edna Joyce Parish who sadly passed away on 8th November 2020
Edna was born in West Ham on 16th October 1946 to Henry Alan & Maud Ellen Zuschlag, the youngest of four siblings, Maureen, Eddie and Eric, and spent her youth at the family home in Stratford.
She first met Patrick (Paddy) at a party held by elder sister Maureen and her husband Allan, and they subsequently had 52 happily married years spent together, and one son, Robert
Edna had many jobs temping in her younger years, then settled at Robert Drake Primary School as a Welfare and Administrator, where she remained working until her retirement.
Edna’s hobbies included swimming at school age, then discovering the music of Cliff Richard, of who she became a lifetime fan. She also enjoyed reading (especially The Lord of the Rings), gardening, dried flower arranging, and in more recent years her iPad, which kept her mind busy even though her legs were not working as they once did. She regularly volunteered for her local GP in earlier years to chat with young adults who were having difficulties, and no doubt changed many lives for the better.
Edna was a warm hearted and extremely determined lady who uncomplainingly overcame physical adversity throughout her life, and always with a smile. She will be remembered by so many as always being a caring voice on the end of the phone, never mentioning her own problems but always worrying for everyone else.
Always in our memories, forever in our hearts.
