In loving memory of Jean Margery Pickering of Shoeburyness who sadly passed away on 8th October 2020

Early Years
Jean was born in to parents John and Mary. One of six Jean spent her early years growing up in the mining village of Langold, and attended St. Mary's and Robert Ludlam Schools in Worksop.

Later Life
Jean worked caring for and supporting others. Jean had a great interest in peoples needs and social environment, she did voluntary work in the Wirral, and Manchester for a short time and then moved to the Southend-on-sea area.
As a Care Worker / Auxiliary Nurse in the Southend area Jean assisted those suffering or recovering from abuse, and those with physical or mental health problems.

After retirement Jean worked for South Essex Community Hub (SECH), and was part of a team running Social English classes. The team were recognised with the prestigious Queens Award earlier this year – Jean was very proud of this and had contributed greatly to their work.

Jeans Passing
Jean passed following a short illness, she leaves her five siblings, nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by family, neighbours and friends, those from her church, and many she worked with and helped, through her work with SECH.

Jean may you rest easy, fulfilled and in peace. X

A shock to learn of my cousin Jean's (Jeanie) passing. I remember my mother, her Aunt Jean, was especially fond of Jeanie and always spoke so highly of her. May she rest in peace.

Dear Jean. Your sound advice and friendship are very missed but I take comfort in knowing that you are now with our Lord and smiling down at us. You always called me ‘Angel’ but I now feel I have my own Angel watching over me. God bless you

I only met Jean this year through our work with SECH. Jean truly was a force of nature and a genuinely kind woman who cared considerably about changing her community for the better, and about supporting those most marginalised in society. A wonderful woman who will be greatly missed xxx
