In loving memory of Graham Neil Diss who sadly passed away on 30th October 2020.
Dad was born in Matlock in 1945 and was the first born of Phyllis & Harold Diss. Dad had three siblings Marilyn, Hazel & Martin. His formative years were spent in Tottenham until moving to Potters Bar.
Dads love for horses started around his 21st Birthday when his parents bought him his own horse. He spent every waking hour at the stables and it gave him a real focus throughout his twenties. This passion was then realised when he took a position with Racecourse Technical Services. Throughout his working life until retirement Dad always retained a keen interest in racing life. Although many of you reading this will know his tips were not that great!!
In the later years Dads main focus and driving force was the arrival of Noah & Hugo. The boys brought so much joy and headaches to dad but he made every conceivable effort in the face of extraordinary health complications to show up and be around for every swimming lesson, football game, school play, birthday & day to day life.
Dad was always on hand to help me and the boys on a day to day basis, be it a loaf of bread because I always forgot the basics or a leaf blower because we were drowning in leaves.
Dad would not want to be remembered as a victim of his health, although he had limitations he lived his life to the full and squeezed every last ounce out he could. He had some amazingly fun tines with me and the boys and I shall always cherish those.
Throughout his life the racing connection was always present with dads continuous support to the Injured Jockeys Fund. Its a small charity that does amazing work supporting rehabilitation after injury and also jockeys and families when faced with life changing injuries.
