My wonderful friend Judy,

I remember when someone talked nonsense
You would often pull a silly face
I would gravitate to you in the winter
As your office was the warmest place

I remember waiting to use the kitchen
As you ate the froth off your coffee
Or helping myself to a malteaser
That you fed the mice for their tea

I remember buying you a gift
No, not a traditional mug
A black Father Christmas hat
Which read “bah humbug”

You have always been there for me, whether it’s helping me with a case or just being there to listen to my moans, I cannot thank you enough. I will miss our emails and chats so so much. So caring, thoughtful and a wonderful sense of humour- you are truly irreplaceable. Love you lots, Jemini xx

  • Jemini, your poem brought a big smile to my face on what has been an emotional day so a massive thank you for that. You’ve captured the essence of Mum perfectly.

I have known Judy throughout my working life first meeting as a work experience student when I was 14! Through every stage she was there to support with care and words of advice. During my darkest time she was always there for me as a shoulder to cry on and to point me in the right direction. No matter how busy she was she always had time. As time passed Judy became my friend. She was always genuinely interested in what was going on with me and my family and would glow with pride when she spoke about her children and grandchildren. Judy was a wonderful and special person with a great sense of humour and I will miss her. She fought bravely. Rest easy friend xx

I remember the last time I came to visit Judy in her garden, we sat in the sun together (with Bill moving the umbrella round to shield us from the sun!) and enjoyed a really good natter and despite the fact that she was facing the most uncertain times ahead she was so interested in what was going on everyone and wanted me to produce some "juicy gossip" for her. It's a memory I will always treasure. She showed such courage, generosity of spirit and bravery throughout her illness , she was a true and steadfast friend and I will miss her very much. Jennie x

The world was richer for having Judy in it, and I am so sad that it is now without her. I can't put into words how wonderful she was, but I will never forget her wisdom, honesty, wit and support. She had class, integrity and a wonderful sense of adventure, and that twinkle in her eye was infectious. Her family were her joy and she was so very proud of you all. Sending my love and best wishes x
