In loving memory of Bernard Yeowell who sadly died on 18th October 2020. Bernard was a much loved Husband, Dad, Grandad and friend. His kindness, love and giving nature will never be forgotten. Bernard was always willing to help anyone and his selflessness was evident to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. The Funeral on 11th November will be available to watch on line via live streaming, please contact the family if you would like details to join in celebrating Bernard's life and they will send you the link. The family have requested family flowers only and are alternatively asking for donations (using the just giving link above) to Fair Havens (Hospice at Home), who provided wonderful care at home to Bernard and the family in his last few days.

In the 1980's Bernard took me under his wing for the first few days of my indoctrination into the workings of Post Office Air Defence Group; feeding me lots of (sometimes mis) information on what was protocol. He then stood back and watched, bailing me out when all had had their fun! I was green then to his wry sense of humour, but I learned. And, like everyone else, loved him for it.
A very clever man able to turn his hand to any aspect of a job at a moments notice and ever willing to assist. We remained friends and met regularly over the years with others of the AD group at various London haunts. Sadly missed.

Beautiful service yesterday and the tributes from the family just showed how much Bernard was loved and how he made everyone feel like a somebody.

I'm rarely in Essex these days, but whenever I did see Bernard he was always so friendly and his beaming smile has always been infectious.

Thinking of all the friends and family he has left behind and I hope as Mark said in his tribute they can continue to remember Bernard with a smile and admiration for a life well lived.

Well done faithful servant, I am 100% certain your homecoming to Jesus was a mighty one! xx

We will always remember Bernard with his infectious smile and glint in his eye! A wonderful sense of humour and fun.
He was a man of integrity and always so willing to help in anyway he could. I remember I asked him to speak at our Fourth Sunday Celebrations. One of them he spoke about Jesus as our Cornerstone-then he played the song. I will always associate that with Bernard.
He also spoke another time about Living Stones and printed off pictures of stones that were flowering-a wonderful picture of us being built into God’s Kingdom and still growing, blossoming and fulfilling His purpose. Many of us still have those pictures.
Bernard was a very special man whom we loved and will never forget. Joan and the family are in our prayers today and moving forward as we remember a remarkable man of whom we were privileged to know and love.

I worked with Bernard for a number of years in the BT Air Defence group in London, he rode there for a while on a motorbike, as did I, and we sometimes travelled together, once or twice with him on my pillion, which was ‘interesting’. We even visited the Motorcycle Show in Birmingham together on our own bikes which was fun until it snowed on the way home. He was always amusing and unpredictable to work with and we, his colleagues, will always have stories and memories of him from those times. Our paths crossed again at Hullbridge U3A and it was always good to see his smiling face, even when he wasn’t feeling so good and sometimes suffering one of his bear hugs. We will always remember this man who was big in so many ways.

Bernard was one of the nicest people we had ever met. We remember his great sense of humour and fun. He was also a caring, kind man and we have happy memories of Bernard at House Group socials. Also when a group of us went away with the caravans. The world will be a poorer place without him. X

Bernard was such a wonderful and caring man. He always made us feel so at home and welcomed us into his family with open arms. His smile and energy were infectious, and family trips / visits will not be the same without him. His sense of humour and that cheeky little wink will always be remembered. Rest in Peace Bernard xx

Bernard welcomed us like we were always family to him. We will miss his big smile, big hugs and big heart. Coming back to England to see family will never quite be the same without Bernard there. He was a loving, generous man who always wanted to make sure everyone else was happy.
Always in our hearts.
