In loving memory of our wonderful mum, Mavis White who sadly passed away on Monday 19th October 2020.

From her birth in Great Baddow in Essex, via London, Bristol and Thornbury to Minehead, Mavis has seen and done many things, and met many, many people. She worked for Marconi, and ATV in London in the 60's, rubbing shoulders with the famous stars of the day; a blood donor session organiser for Avon county, an antiques dealer with a shop in Gloucester Docks, and in Granny's Attic in Thornbury. She enjoyed travelling and went to Copenhagen, Germany and Yugoslavia in the 60s, and has driven up as far as Ullapool in the top of Scotland!

It would be wonderful to hear your memories and stories, please add them to this page, and share the page with everyone who knew mum.

Due to current restrictions a service for 30 people will be held, for those wishing to join the service online, please visit www.obitus.com and use Username Jeqa4085 Password 811022

Lovely memories of my dear aunt - from when she first lived in Bristol and As a ting child I thought she was the most glamorous person on earth, to her kindness, good sense and hospitality when I visited her in my teenage years in Thornbury, to later times in Minehead when she was just around the corner from my folks. Always thoughtful of others, always pleased to see us - we will miss her in our lives. With much love always Angela Xxx

A few words come to mind when I think of Mavis - witty, entertaining, charming, energetic and fascinating in conversation. Mavis let me stay over for Christmas and I will forever cherish those memories. I was going through a particularly hard time, and she helped me a great deal. I have known very few people with such kindness, she was a truly lovely person in every way.

Mavis White will always sparkle in my memories of her.. She had amazing talents, worked with demanding and talented stars and whatever she did in life had zest, imagination, a sense of fairness to bring the best out in other people and as such was much admired by those who knew her.

Mavis was a girl who would battle against all odds if she thought it was the right thing to do and as such this old planet Earth has benefitted by the contribution Mavis made.

We do not see her now but she is with us when needed - -- not good bye Mavis but 'til we all meet once again.

Though there would often be long gaps between meeting with Mavis over the years, it was always like it was only a week since we had last met and talked. Great to meet up for a meal when work or holidays brought me to Minehead.

Mavis was always fun and outgoing. She brought astrology and antiques into my life and added to my fond memories of Thornbury and being at secondary school. I'm am very sad to hear she has left us, and am thinking of the family she left behind.

Mavis was always so lovely welcoming and felt like a friend rather than just a mum of a friend. I remember the house hold tea obsession and the many Toby jugs. I learnt more about antiques from Mavis than from the antiques road show. Her knowledge of astrology was incredible and very accurate. I am so sorry for your loss Helen David and
Janice. Sending hugs from a far Claire

David, Helen and Janice. Such fond memories of your mum and her friendly, open house. I can't even remember a time before I was a regular in Manor Walk. Truly happy hours (actually more like months) spent heading in and out of your kitchen door. Growing up, playing, staying over, chatting and hanging out through the years, outstaying my welcome as much as possible. Mavis was always such a busy, lively chatty person, A mum who felt more like a friend, she never talked down to us (as the numbers of visitors grew), and always included us in her ideas and interests - to me she was always utterly genuine, friendly and kind. Sending love and deep sympathy to you all on her passing. Ben x
