John Bedford Clarke (7 Feb 1940 - 13 Sep 2020)
John Bedford Clarke (Nobby Clarke) 80 years young of 89 Brocks Drive, North Cheam, Sutton, SM3 9UW sadly passed away on 13th September 2020 at 5:40am from Sepsis and Pneumonia. His Son Jonathan was by his side.
Family Jonathan Clarke, Edward Clarke, Deborah Clarke and John Clarke and other family members and close relatives invite Friends and colleagues alike to join us in a celebration of his life at the North East Surrey Crematorium, Lower Morden Lane, Morden, Surrey , SM4 4NU on Wednesday 18th November 2020 at 9:20am.
In death he will be joining his parents Edward Kissick Clarke and Margaret Clarke. His loving Wife Maureen Helen Clarke along with his Brother Donald and wife Jean Clarke and many relatives and close friends who have sadly passed on.
John was born on the 7th February 1940 at his Family Home in Merton. Mother Margaret, Father Edward along with Brother Donald. He was early and delivered by Neighbour Mrs Bedford (John’s middle name) and told he was small enough to sleep in a Drawer.
Born and Bred in Haynt Walk by his Father a Mayor and Magistrate, Mother along with three brothers and two sisters.
Educated at Bushey School, John had talent in the Discus and Javelin and Metal Work.
John was first employed as a Butcher. He would spend his time spare time having fun in pubs and dances halls around Wimbledon and Merton along with Weekend breaks to the coast with his Brothers and Close friends.
At a Dance in Wimbledon Palace he met the love of his life Maureen Dower from Irish and Welsh Decent. Aged twenty One they began courting then married on 11th February 1961 and bought the family home in North Cheam. Together they raised their Son Jonathan, born in 1974.
John then embark on a carrier as a Engineer at The Tenable Screw Company and various other Engineering Firms until 1983 when John decided to start his own business along with his wife Maureen who had worked as a Book Keeper Accountant for many years.
JMJ Engineering was formed and continues today in Supplying Engineering Materials to trade and the public. Maureen John and Jonathan remained at Brocks Drive and operated the family business from home enjoying a wonderful family life of working, holidays and the best of times with many family and friends and close neighbours.
John and Maureen enjoyed 39 years of Marriage until 2000 when Maureen died suddenly. John and Jonathan lived together running the family business and continuing to enjoy many holidays and socialising with family and friends. John indulged in his passion for Flight and Aeroplanes with Trips on Concord, a “Loop the Loop” in a Tiger Moth Plane and a trip on a Microlight!
John was a hard working, loving, caring, generous man with outstanding manners. A passion for life and the lover of people from all walks of life. An ability to communicate with all, he enjoyed nothing more than a good old joke, and could recount a story with humour and interest.
Remembered by many for kissing a women hand, “You’re a Little Gem, ‘I’m Radiant, thank you Darling,”
