In loving memory of Brian Curran who sadly passed away on 5th October 2020
My dad had given up work on the 4th of September the day before his 67th birthday, he was then taken into hospital on the 7th of September and was diagnosed stage four heart failure, During routine blood Test in hospital it had showed that my dad had COVID antibodies, but the COVID swab it showed that he was negative from COVID . To rule this out he had an x-ray and it was then we found out that my dad had cancer of the lung and of his liver. My dad then had a biopsy done under local anaesthetic of the liver to see what type of cancer he had.
He was then released from the hospital on the 22nd of September where myself and my mother cared for him. On the 28th of September his doctor from the hospital called and gave him the results from his biopsy, the biopsy results shows that my dad was in the final stages of single cell carcinoma, which is one of the most aggressive form of cancer. The doctors told him he would have three months to live, and with chemotherapy he could have up to a year. I already knew that none of this was possible as I had been speaking with his cancer nurses and the palliative nurses who knew it was only a matter of weeks before he would pass away. I believe that when my father was given these results that that is when he gave on life.
After that phone call from the doctor my dad went downhill quite fast, I knew he had spread to his brain when he started doing repetitive motions and he was wondering why he was doing it the last time any of us spoke to my dad was on the 2nd of October. My dad then died peacefully surrounded by my mum and myself on the 5th of October at 17:40. It was a great sadness to us all as my dad now lives behind my mum my brother myself and his six beautiful grandchildren. My fatherβs wishes for his funeral was to have family flowers only and donations be made to cancer research. I hope that this will help find a cure for single cell cancer and all other forms of cancer. The reason for him wanting money donated to cancer research as it has it my family so many time on both sides.
My dad will be greatly missed by my mum Lesley, his children Robert and Rebecca and his grandchildren Paige, Molly, Oliver, Raine, William and Ethan.
You are loved dad now rest in peace soldier.πβ€οΈπππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
