Russell Stanley Thaine (9 Feb 1935 - 26 May 2015)

I have known Russell for over 30 years, introduced a few months after I met his eldest daughter Ann, at university. Russell was always very kind to me and when I married Ann he truly treated me as if he had gained a son. I could talk easily with him about anything and he was happy to pass on his experiences and wisdom. He has been a wonderful grandfather to my three children and I know they all find his passing a great loss.
I know Russell was deeply affected by the death of Ann earlier this year but he never showed his great loss and only ever talked about the good things.
I am privileged to have known him as a father-in-law and as a friend.

There is no way to lessen your sorrow, but take comfort and strength knowing others care very much. Thinking of you at this sad time.

We are away and only just got to our emails. A great guy, one of the world's gentlemen, and one of the. Nicest too. So very sorry to hear the news and that I shall not be able to be there.

Russell never had an unkind word to say about anybody and I have never heard anybody say an unkind word about him. I will miss his company but treasure his memory.

Such sad news, my memories go back to the year 2000 since when we have had many enjoyable times both on and off the golf course.

A great guy will be missed
